ZIMBABWE’s two most storied football clubs, Highlanders and Dynamos, will renew their fierce rivalry on 15 February when they meet in the inaugural Jairos Jiri Charity Cup at Barbourfields Stadium.
The high-profile charity match, organised by the Jairos Jiri Association, will see all proceeds channelled towards programmes supporting people living with disabilities, adding a strong social cause to one of domestic football’s most anticipated fixtures.
Beyond its charitable significance, the encounter will provide an early test for both sides ahead of the 2026 season. For Highlanders, it marks the first major outing under new head coach Benjani Mwaruwari, who will be keen to assess his squad against elite opposition. Dynamos, under the guidance of Genesis Mangombe, will also use the fixture to fine-tune preparations ahead of competitive commitments.
Organisers have confirmed that the match will be staged as an annual event, with expectations of a large turnout given the enduring appeal of the Bulawayo–Harare rivalry.
The Jairos Jiri Association has assured both clubs of full logistical support, including appearance fees, accommodation and transport, underlining the scale and professionalism of the initiative.
The match will also serve as an important build-up fixture for Dynamos ahead of their Castle Lager Challenge Cup clash, further elevating its relevance on the local football calendar.
