SENEGAL has matched its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations success with a substantial state reward package, after President Bassirou Diomaye Faye approved US$6.2 million in cash incentives and more than 68 000 square metres of residential land for the title-winning squad and team officials.
Each player in the Teranga Lions squad will receive US$135 000 and a 1 500-square-metre plot, while members of the technical and support staff are set to receive US$90 000 each, along with 1 000-square-metre plots, reflecting the government’s recognition of the team’s continental achievement.
The announcement was made during a presidential reception in Dakar, where President Faye hosted players and officials following their victory in the AFCON final.
He said the team’s success had strengthened national unity and enhanced Senegal’s image across Africa and internationally.
