CAPS United utility player Bruce Kangwa says he remains hungry for success and is targeting silverware as the Harare giants rebuild ahead of the new season.
Kangwa recently returned home after a seven-year spell with Tanzania’s Azam FC, rejoining Makepekepe in a move that adds experience to a squad undergoing significant change. He said last season was a period of adjustment for the club, which struggled to meet expectations following extensive changes both on and off the pitch.
With CAPS United having overhauled their technical set-up and playing personnel, Kangwa believes the refreshed squad has the potential to restore the club’s traditional status as one of Zimbabwean football’s most successful sides.
“We are looking forward to the new season, especially after the changes in personnel and coaches. We hope to pick up from where we left off last season. It was not a good season, but we believe pre-season preparations will give us direction on where we are headed,” said Kangwa.
The experienced campaigner, who rose to prominence at Highlanders FC after being converted from a left-back into a versatile utility player under coach Kelvin Kaindu, said returning home was a natural decision after years abroad.
CAPS United have also made notable changes in their technical department, appointing former player Takesure Chiragwi as head coach. The club has further strengthened its squad through a series of high-profile signings, including Obrey Chirinda, as it looks to mount a strong challenge in the upcoming campaign.
The renewed optimism at the club has fuelled belief among senior players such as Kangwa that Makepekepe can once again compete for honours.
