ZIMBABWE’S national football team, the Warriors, strengthened their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday as European-based players joined the squad at the training camp in Marrakech, Morocco.
The reinforcements include forwards Bill Antonio, Tawanda Chirewa and Tawanda Maswanhise, midfielders Andy Rinomhota and Jonah Fabisch, as well as defenders Brendan Galloway and Munashe Garananga. Midfielder Sean Fusire is scheduled to join the team later.
Zimbabwe will open their Group C campaign against Egypt on Monday, followed by matches against South Africa and Angola. The Pharaohs, who hold a record seven AFCON titles, also arrived in Morocco on Wednesday with an experienced squad and eager to add to their seven titles.
Zimbabwe are aiming to go past the group stages for the first time in five attempts.
