WORLD Karate Federation President, Antonio Espinós, arrives in Zimbabwe today for the official launch of the Guardian Girls Karate Programme.
The initiative aims to empower women and girls with vital self-defence skills while raising awareness on gender-based violence. It also promotes gender equality by using karate as a tool to build confidence, enhance safety, and foster social empowerment among women and girls.
Zimbabwe becomes the first African nation to host this global programme, placing the country at the forefront of efforts to link sport with community protection.
The three day event features participants from South Africa, the DRC, Mozambique, Malawi, and other countries. The programme is being held in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and the Zimbabwe National Karate Federation.
