ZIMBABWE’S presence at the ongoing Miss Universe pageant in Pattaya, Thailand, continues to grow, with the country’s representative, Lyshanda Moyas, drawing attention through her confident performances and cultural presentation.
The international pageant featuring more than 100 participants has entered a crucial stage as contestants take part in a series of public appearances, charity engagements, and televised showcases in the lead-up to the grand finale on November 21. The competition seeks not only beauty but a candidate capable of leadership and meaningful advocacy.
Moyas has been actively participating in the programme, including photo shoots, rehearsals and Thursday’s swimsuit fashion show, where she expressed gratitude for the support she has received from Zimbabweans.
“The experience thus far has been absolutely amazing. I have had the opportunity to share a home with people from 122 different countries, beautiful women, different cultures, learning from each other, and experiencing the amazing Thai culture and Thai food.
“My beautiful family, the swimwear fashion show was amazing. We have got a lot more in store for you. We have rehearsals coming up, we have preliminaries and our traditional costume as well, but guys, I am so excited. Thank you for all the love and all the support. Meanwhile, the last Zimbabwean delegation, comprising Miss Universe Zimbabwe board members, is expected to arrive in Thailand on Monday to support the queen.
The visit comes at a time when countries are supporting their queens in Thailand and through online votes, which play a crucial role in the competition, with Zimbabwe currently holding 16th place in the people’s choice voting, which will close on November 20.
As Zimbabwe pursues its engagement and re-engagement agenda, the Miss Universe stage offers yet another platform to spotlight the nation through pageantry.
