ZIMBABWE has positioned itself as a model of international cooperation as the visiting African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) delegation continues engagements with development partners on economic policies aimed at fostering inclusive growth, equity, and resilience.
The APRM delegation this Friday met with various development partners operating in Zimbabwe, creating a platform for comprehensive dialogue on governance and development priorities.
The discussions are expected to inform strategies that will strengthen Zimbabwe’s policy framework and support the country’s vision for sustainable and inclusive national development.
Chairperson of the National Governance Council, APRM Zimbabwe, Ambassador James Manzou, described the engagements as important in showing the country’s commitment to work with the global community.
“Today marks a significant phase of our engagement, as we are going to have presentations by key stakeholders, that is, development partners. These deliberations form the backbone of the review process, allowing for comprehensive dialogue, evidence-based analysis, and constructive recommendations that will shape Zimbabwe’s Governance and development trajectory.
“Zimbabwe’s hosting of the APRM delegation is a reaffirmation of our Government’s steadfast commitment to strengthening Governance in all its dimensions, political, social and economic while promoting regional integration and sustainably socio economic transformation, the ongoing targeted review focuses on economic Governance and Management, a thematic area that Zimbabwe has rightly identified as a national priority, this provides an opportunity for introspection on how our economic policies, institutions and fiscal management systems can better promote inclusive growth, equity and resilience,” he said.
Head of the APRM visiting delegation, Ambassador Aly El Hefny, described the engagements as crucial for Zimbabwe’s economic growth agenda.
“We are engaging the development partners as a process of reviewing how economic policies, institutions, and fiscal management are positively affecting the lives of Zimbabweans. All the participants have been engaging with openness, integrity, and objectivity, and we are embracing this exercise as guided by our objectives,” he said.
Development partners such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations Development Programme, and the European Union, among others, participated during the engagements with the visiting APRM delegation that is also set to visit provinces to appreciate the country’s inclusive developmental trajectory.
