THE Zimbabwe Women’s senior women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors, are set to return to competitive action later this month when they take part in a four-nation tournament in Malawi, marking a long-awaited comeback following months of inactivity.
This marks a significant comeback for the team after a period of inactivity and their recent disappointment in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they were edged out by Angola.
The tournament, which falls within the FIFA international break, presents an opportunity for the Mighty Warriors to rebuild momentum and prepare for upcoming regional and continental competitions.
Zimbabwe will battle regional powerhouses South Africa, Zambia and hosts Malawi at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe beginning on November 29.
With the COSAFA Women’s Championship cancelled earlier this year, the team has not played since February, leaving Coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda with limited opportunities to assess her squad.
The FIFA window is from November 25 to December 3, and presents a rare and much-needed chance for the Mighty Warriors to get valuable game time ahead of next year’s international calendar.
