THE Zimbabwe senior netball team, the Gems, will go into camp this Sunday as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2025 Celtic Cup scheduled to take place in Scotland.
This marks their second intensive training session ahead of the tournament, following an earlier camp held in August during which they hosted Kenya for a series of friendly matches.
The upcoming three-week camp is expected to focus on refining tactics, improving fitness, and finalising squad combinations as the team gears up for the international competition.
As part of their preparations, the Gems will host a tri-nations tournament featuring Malawi and Botswana from October 23 to 25.
This crucial test will help coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki select the final squad for the Celtic Cup.
“Malawi and Botswana are formidable opponents who will provide us with strong competition, allowing us to gauge our players’ fitness levels and competitiveness,” she said.
The Celtic Cup will take place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, from November 26 to 30.
The Gems will face stiff competition from Northern Ireland, Scotland, reigning champions Wales, and invitational teams Uganda and Namibia.
The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing the others once.
Zimbabwe clinched bronze last year after a thrilling 55-49 win over Northern Ireland.
