THE construction of the Gwanda Court Complex is progressing well, amid expectations that the project will be completed by the end of the year.
Chief Justice Luke Malaba toured the court complex this Friday to check progress on one of the Second Republic’s major projects in Matabeleland South Province.
The building is now at roofing level, with the Director for Public Works, Engineer Sijabuliso Ncube, highlighting the significant progress achieved this year.
“We are at 60 percent completion, what is left now is roofing, and we have already processed quotations for that. As soon as we get funding, we will continue.”
Chief Justice Malaba emphasised the importance of these infrastructure development projects in enhancing access to justice and supporting the country’s devolution agenda.
“Such infrastructure projects are incredibly important. The new Gwanda Court Complex will improve the community’s access to justice, and this is a key part of the national devolution agenda. This vision is all about strengthening our justice system and driving development across Zimbabwe.”
The court complex, which is being built by a renowned Chinese company, Hua Long, will house magistrate courts, holding cells for the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service and National Prosecuting Authority offices.
