ZIMBABWE has almost doubled cotton production, with current deliveries at around 23 million kilogrammes as compared to 12 million kilogrammes during the same period last year.
Increased deliveries have been attributed to good rains during the 2024-25 summer cropping season.
According to the Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA), farmers who benefitted from the Presidential Cotton Inputs Scheme spearheaded by COTTCO, accounted for nine million kilogrammes of the white gold, while the remainder came from six private contractors.
This year the target for cotton production is 61 million kilogrammes.
