Story by Tendai Munengwa

THE construction of the Trabablas Interchange is now complete, with the contractor now putting final touches ahead of its official opening by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The state-of-the-art interchange, one of the Second Republic’s flagship infrastructure projects, boasts 15 fully constructed bridges and has involved the efforts of over 1 800 workers, who are putting final touches to the signature project.

“15 bridges are 99.8% complete and works overly are more than 95 percent. We are working 24 hours to make sure that we finish this project before the end of the month,” Fossils Contracting Company’s Engineer Kudakwashe Maguta confirmed.

The much-awaited completion and opening of the interchange is expected to ensure smooth flow of traffic for the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway and connectivity for several surrounding suburbs in Harare.

“We are impressed by the standards of work by the contractor of this Trabablas Interchange. As you know, this was an intersection called Mbudzi roundabout and it used to be congested and blocking motorists. Now that this great interchange is complete, congestion will be a thing of the past,” Trabablas resident engineer, Emmanuel Dube said.

The completion of the state-of-the-art Trabablas Interchange by local contractors is a milestone achievement by the Second Republic that resonates with President Mnangagwa’s mantra, Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo.
