THE president of the African Handball Confederation, Dr Mansourou Aremou is in Harare for the Zone Six Handball championship which started this Thursday at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

Dr Aremou arrived in the capital this Thursday for a series of meetings as well as attending the Zone Six Handball championship.

“We are fighting to have a good place for Handball on the continent, the starting point is to develop the sport in schools then we also go for the Youth Handball and these are some of the talks I am expecting to have with the federations,” he said.

The local Handball Federation is delighted to have the continental president, who is also the vice-president of the International Handball Federation.

“This is a huge opportunity for us and we have been making strides. We hosted the Zone Six champs two years ago, and we are here again and we have had teams qualifying for continental tournaments and our exploits have prompted him to come and see our developmental projects,” Zimbabwe Handball Federation Secretary General, Edson Chirowodza said.

Zimbabwe hosted the last two editions of the men’s junior and youth tournaments and on both occasions, the Under-20 emerged as winners in their age group.
