PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is this morning expected to oversee the signing of performance contracts and an awards ceremony for ministers and senior public sector officials.
This year’s performance contract signing ceremony will also include deputy ministers, commissioners, and deputy chief secretaries, thereby expanding the accountability framework introduced in 2021.
In a statement last week, the Office of the President and Cabinet said the contracts reflect government leaders’ commitment to providing sustainable economic growth, employment, wealth creation, national development, and poverty alleviation for the people of Zimbabwe.
It added that over 6 000 projects across the 14 thematic areas have been implemented so far within the National Development Strategy One framework and each of these projects have been monitored and appraised since the introduction of the performance contracts in 2021.
As he addressed the first Cabinet meeting of the year, President Mnangagwa reiterated that improving the livelihoods of the citizenry and driving the nation towards an upper middle income society remains a priority under the government’s inclusive development agenda.
