THE Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) has commended government for honouring its reporting obligations under various treaties, including the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
In a media briefing in Harare this Friday, Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission Chairperson, Commissioner Jessie Majome said the commission welcomes the presentation of Zimbabwe’s state party report to the UN Human Rights Committee this week.
“ZHRC welcomes the presentation of Zimbabwe’s state party report to the human rights committee on the United Nations ICCPR on March 6 and 7 2025. The commission acknowledges the commitment by the government of Zimbabwe in honouring its reporting obligations under the various treaty bodies. The commission continues to urge the government to ratify key, outstanding treaties, including big United Nations convention against torture and other cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment.”
The government’s commitment to fulfilling its reporting obligations under the ICCPR ensures that Zimbabwe remains engaged with international human rights mechanisms and continues to uphold its responsibilities on the global stage.
