TOBACCO Contract sales for the 2025 marketing season kicked off in Harare and various centres across the country this Thursday with the highest quality of tobacco hitting US$5.45 per kilogram at Northern Tobacco Company this Thursday.
The Auction floors were officially opened this Wednesday by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, fisheries, Water and, Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka with the highest bale fetching US$4.92 per kilogram.
This year, the tobacco industry and marketing board has reviewed the target of the anticipated output to 280 million kgs although chances to achieve the initial target of 300 million are still bright.
