THE Mudzi Rural District Council has constructed market stalls for vendors in the area, courtesy of devolution funds.
Days of playing hide and seek with municipal police, while also operating under the sun are now a thing of the past for Kotwa vendors following the construction of market stalls at the growth point, a development that has been welcomed by the vendors whose lives have been transformed.
“We are very excited with the development as it has transformed our lives since we now have a place to operate from,” said a vendor.
“We used to play hide and seek with law enforcement agencies since we were operating at undesignated places but this is decent now.
“We thank the Second Republic for devolution funds which made this possible so we are very excited,” added another vendor.
Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Itai Ndudzo said the government will continue to support communities to transform their lives.
“What I have seen here is very commendable and I promise you that as the government, we will continue supporting communities to transform their lives,” he said.
“As a local authority, we are very happy with devolution projects being funded by the government in our district which are helping us a lot,” Mudzi RDC CEO, Mr Richard Nyamutswa said.
Honourable Ndudzo also commissioned a fire tender received from the government last year, a borehole rig, and waste management vehicles procured using devolution funds.
