Hurungwe triple murder suspect arrested

Story by Peter Chivhima

HURUNGWE triple murder suspect Trymore Tore, who is facing allegations of killing three people including his wife, Moleen Chabayanzara before dumping her body a few metres from the homestead, has been arrested.

Tore was arrested on Sunday after a swift reaction by villagers who saw him trying to commit suicide by slitting his own throat.

He was later disarmed and taken to Karoi Hospital where he is receiving treatment under police guard.

“He was arrested after a team of police officers, which had been deployed to the area. He was then apprehended while he was hiding in a bush in the process he tried to kill himself by stabbing, and using a knife several times. And as we speak, he is now admitted at Karoi hospital under a police guard. We want to thank the community in Hurungwe specifically Karoi and the surrounding areas for the way they acted, especially the cooperation with the police,” said ZRP national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

Circumstances are that Tore, who had been married to the now deceased Moleen Chibayanzara for three years, had longstanding domestic issues with her.

It is alleged that on the fateful day, the couple had an altercation that caught the attention of Headman Nyikadzino.

It is suspected that Tore held the headman hostage before killing him and a 17-year-old relative, Anet Nabwalo, who had visited Tore’s homestead to watch a movie.

The community became suspicious when the two failed to return home after several days.

A relative visited Tore’s homestead and found him at home, but he claimed to not know his wife and the other missing person’s whereabouts.

Tore also stands accused of attempting to rape the relative after she suggested visiting a prophet to gain insight into the disappearance of the trio.

A search party by community members led to the discovery of Chabayanzara’s body a few meters from the homestead, while Nyikadzino’s body was found in a disused latrine and that of a 17 year old victim was found buried under tree leaves.
