Japanese Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Shimichi Yamanaka says the Osaka 2025 Expo provides a perfect opportunity for government to attract more investments and highlight strides made in creating a low-risk investment destination.
He said this when he paid a courtesy call on President of the Senate, Senator Marbel Chinomona, at the New Parliament in Mt Hampden this Tuesday, where discussions centered on measures to harness trade ties between the two countries, including participation at the upcoming Osaka Expo 2025.
“We held fruitful discussions with the President of the Senate and looked at ways of creating strong trade ties between Zimbabwe and Japan. The two countries share a long history and this is an opportune time to elevate such a partnership,” said Ambassador Yamanaka.
Ambassador Yamanaka added that the Osaka 2025 Expo is a must-attend for Zimbabwe to eliminate long-held stereotypes as a high-risk investment destination.
“Japanese investors’ long-held stereotypes of Zimbabwe as a hyperinflationary could be swayed by attending this key event because there are many who still think that Zimbabwe is still in hyperinflation, so the country must attend this forum to help achieve its economic development goals,” he said.
The Osaka 2025 Expo runs for six months from April to October this year and Zimbabwe is set to benefit immensely after its successful participation at the previous edition held in the United Arab Emirates five years ago.
