Israel approves Gaza ceasefire deal

Israel’s security cabinet has recommended the approval of the Gaza ceasefire deal, which was brokered on Wednesday.

In light of this development, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu says the first hostages “are expected to be released as early as Sunday” if the deal is approved.

The ceasefire deal was first announced on Wednesday by United States and Qatar mediators.

Qatar Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani says the agreement will come into effect on Sunday if parties involved endorse it.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel has been going on since the 7th of October 2023, resulting in the death of over 46 000 people, with around 110 000 being wounded.
