The unyielding donkey: Stubborn but indispensable

Story by Memory Chamisa

An animal often termed stubborn but overworked, the donkey has now been nicknamed the road Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) because of its stubbornness on the roads.

It stands on the middle of the road with no care whatsoever for the traffic that is coming its way or behind it.

For the rural folk, the donkey is one animal that can frustrate you, but it won’t budge because you said so or you want your work done.

“This is one animal that is stubborn yet it does a lot of work from the field to carrying the heaviest load you can think of.”

“ A donkey is one animal that is stubborn but hardworking. A donkey is deadly for drivers as it does not consider road rules nor is it scared of vehicles,” added a rural resident.

“It is one handy stubborn animal. In this time where our cattle is not fit, we draw it to the oxen and use it to carry our load.”

Many times one is said to be as stubborn as a donkey, but be that as it may, donkeys remain a fixture of daily life in rural communities and their worth can never be underestimated.
