PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa, this Tuesday, donated over two tonnes of rice to 20 care homes in Bulawayo.
The early Christmas present from the President was handed over to the institutions’ representatives on behalf of the President by Bulawayo’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Judith Ncube.
The 20 elderly and children’s care homes that benefitted from the early Christmas cheer donation include Luveve School of Training, Percy Iboston, St Francis, Sandra Jones among others.
The beneficiaries received 100 kilogrammes bags of rice, which they said will go a long way in ensuring children and elderly people in care homes have a merry Christmas.
“The timely donation will go a long way in ensuring the elderly have a great Christmas,” said a beneficiary.
Another added, “Our children are going to be happy because Christmas season is all about enjoying good food.
Honourable Ncube extended her appreciation to His Excellence for his great leadership which seeks to empower vulnerable members of the community.
“We are so grateful to the President, we really appreciate the donation,” she said.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s donation reflects the government’s commitment to empower vulnerable members of the community.
