Government has commended the private sector for complementing the Second Republic’s efforts in the provision of quality education and transformation of communities.
Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who was the guest of honour at the official opening of Northend High School in Wedza this Thursday, said government is appreciative of the role played by private players in transforming the education sector and their contribution to rural industrialisation.
“As government, we are happy when we have such developments in rural areas, where private players are taking a leading role in transforming our education which is what we are encouraging,” he said.
The school has also been commended for coming up with modern infrastructure in rural areas in line with government’s inclusive development agenda.
“We are in the middle of a village but if you look at the infrastructure, you can see that the area has been transformed,” said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Torerayi Moyo.
Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi noted, “As a province this is what we encourage as we are known for hosting some of the best schools in the province so we maintain our reputation.”
School authorities believe the development will have downstream economic benefits in the area.
“Apart from providing education, we want this school to assist in economic development in our area through employment creation and agriculture,” school director, Mr Piri Mukono said.
Boasting of modern amenities, the school which has boarding facilities is set to enroll Form One to Six students.
