THE Chitepo School of Ideology has applauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his visionary leadership in turning around the economic fortunes of the country.
The endorsement was made by Chitepo School of Ideology Principal Cde Isaac Mada in Harare this Friday while addressing resources persons, think tanks and a Chinese delegation which is in the country on an exchange programme.
“We are happy that for our era under the astute leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Second Republic, the economy has adapted a positive growth trajectory through policies such as Zimbabwe Is Open For Business, Ease of Doing Business, Cultural Modernisation, and Buy Zimbabwe, among others. The party therefore takes a living role in mobilising our people to participate actively in the vision and contribute towards its attainment.
“We are doing this by ensuring that we have a solid administrative structure and health to the party constitution, practicing internal democracy, and the development of the production of quantitative party caters to the party’s ideology. Although we won our political independence, today we are still fighting for economic independence, hence our desire to become an upper middle income societyby 2030. In this endeavour, we continue to face challenges that seek to deny us the attainment of this noble vision,” he said.
Giving a lecture on the Chinese model in a global perspective, Chinese Head of Delegation, Professor Zhang Weiwei highlighted the importance of cooperation for economic development.
“There is a need for cooperation among countries for economic growth,”he noted.
Participants noted the need for Zimbabweans to believe in themselves.
“China has done very well in special economic zones, and we can draw some lessons in terms of the effective and efficient management of special economic zones, issues around industrial parks, and specialised taxation or customs areas,” said Chitepo School of Ideology resource person, Ms Josephine Mberi.
Zimbabwe and China have a long-standing relationship dating back to the days of the liberation struggle when the Asian giant supported the country’s quest for independence.
