THREE armed robbers have been sentenced to a combined 114 years behind bars after conviction at the Bindura Magistrate Court on Tuesday for 10 counts of robbery.
Ladma Mutesa (39) Tapiwa Nyakudya (31) and Sande Saini (32) will each serve an effective 38 years behind bars after being found guilty on 10 counts of armed robbery.
Bindura Magistrate Felix Chauromwe suspended 12 years from each convict’s sentence on condition on good behaviour after initially handing them a 50 year jail term each.
State papers revealed that the trio committed a string of robberies at Nyakudya Mazarura Village in the Chief Masembura area of Bindura in April.
They allegedly used iron bars to break into people’s homes and steal electrical gadgets, money, groceries and many other items they came across.
In one of the incidents on 21 April 2024, the assailants robbed a home where six victims were sleeping after forcefully entering the house.
They were aided by who accomplices who are still at large.
Prosecutor Nyasha Mhonda appeared for the state.
