VICE President, Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi has arrived in Venice, Italy for the 60th Biennale International Art Exhibition.

The international art exhibition is the 7th edition where Zimbabwe is participating with a view to promote the arts sector and unlock new frontiers.

Vice President Mohadi, who is accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Emily Jesaya and the Acting Permanent Secretary in his office Mr Milton Ndou, was received at the Marco Polo International Airport by Zimbabwe’s Charge De Affairs to Italy, Mrs Caroline Matipa and Chief of Staff in the Vice President’s Office, Dr Clever Chirume.

The Vice President is expected to tour the Zimbabwe pavilion this Tuesday as well as interact with artists whose works are being exhibited at the event.

The Zimbabwe pavilion, according to Commissioner Raphael Chikukwa, attracts more than 500 visitors daily, which shows the prowess of local artists on the international stage.

The Venice Biennale International Exhibition started in April this year and will come to a close next month with more than 300 artists participating from across the globe.

Zimbabwe is well represented at this year’s edition with breath-taking exhibitions which are attracting art enthusiasts as they depict the rich history of the country, heritage and culture.

The platform offers an opportunity for Zimbabwe artists to interact with globally acclaimed artists and share notes on how best to preserve the industry, while also making a living out of it.
