The Zimbabwe women national football team, the Mighty Warriors, have been handed what looks like a fair draw for the 2024 COSAFA Women Championship after they were drawn against Lesotho and Mozambique.

The 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship is set for the Nelson Mandela Stadium in South Africa from the 22nd of this month to the 2nd of November.

This year’s edition will be the biggest women regional competition on the African continent after 14 teams confirmed participation.

The teams are divided into four groups, with two groups containing four teams while the other two have three countries.

Defending champions Malawi are in the same group with Botswana, Madagascar, and Mauritius.

Hosts and seven-time winners South Africa will face Namibia, Eswatini, and debutants Seychelles while Zimbabwe are up against Lesotho and Mozambique.

The four group winners will progress to the semi-finals.

The Mighty Warriors will be under Sithethelelwe ‘Kwinji 15’ Sibanda, who returned to the national team dug out last month.
Zimbabwe will be seeking to win the tournament for the second time after their triumph at Rufaro Stadium in 2011.
