THE Second Republic’s township tourism concept which seeks to showcase the uniqueness of tourism products in specific areas was on display as Zimbabwe celebrated the tourism month in the Gandavaroyi area of Gokwe North District.
The Gandavaroyi Falls, which lie along the Sanyati river in the Gokwe North district is a marvel to watch and could leave any tourist interested in natural scenery green with envy.
Despite the folklore tales of how the gorge was a place where suspected witches and wizards met, this year the place was a hive of activity as the government celebrated the tourism month of September at the gorge in line with the inclusive development approach.
“A place like this should be promoted across the globe. We are saying those who want to invest in tourism will be referred to this place. It is the President’s wish that we leave no one and no place behind. We want the tourism aspect to be spread to every part of the country,” said the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Tongai Mnangagwa.
Gokwe Gumunyu legislator, Honourable Stephen Ngwenya is optimistic that the recognition will culminate in massive investments in the area.
“I want to thank the government for recognising Gandavaroyi. You have developed a very powerful tool in marketing our gorge and investment opportunities in Gokwe North. I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that we will be there to help investors set up any business opportunities.
“From today going forward, the Gandavaroyi Falls is now on the world map even if you go on the internet we are now there as people angle to visit the gorge.”
Located some 100 kilometres North of Mutora Business Centre, Gandavaroyi Gorge which is at the border of Midlands and Mashonaland West province is one of the many tourist attraction sites in the country and is fast gaining attention due to its alluring geomorphic features.
