At least 100 000 people are expected to attend the 2026 National Disability Expo, slated for Masvingo this week, with exhibitors drawn from eight countries.
Briefing journalists in Harare on the outcomes of the 20th Cabinet meeting of the year, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Zhemu Soda, said the President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, will headline the National Disability Expo this week, which is expected to attract at least 100,000 participants.
At least 10 heritage sites in Mozambique and Zambia are being rehabilitated as part of preparations for the National Heroes Day commemorations slated for August 10 this year.
Preparations are also at an advanced stage for the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day, with a number of projects lined up under the ZDF Community Week programme.
Cabinet has approved the nine-year Sugar Industry Development Plan, premised on seven pillars. The plan is expected to boost ethanol production to 600 million litres while increasing power generation to 200 megawatts.
During National Heroes day celebrations, a gala will be held in Mashonaland West Province while the Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) will embark on various projects around the country, including sinking boreholes.
Cabinet also deliberated on the SADC Inter-Ministerial Meeting on Regional Integration, with a strong focus on industrialisation and the modernisation agenda.
