HIGHLANDERS Royals are bracing up for their debut season in the rebranded Women Premier Soccer League (WPSL) which kicks off this Saturday.
The WPSL has been dominated by Black Rhinos Queens which won four titles on the trot before Herentals went on to claim the league title for two successive seasons.
New kids on the bloc, Highlanders Royals have however threatened to change the script as they prepare for their debut season in the women’s topflight league.
Highlanders Royals head coach Edmore Sibanda said, “Our preparations have gone so well. We now have a full squad and we are ready for our first home match.”
Bosso have a young squad and the players are determined to make a name for themselves.
“We are happy to be playing in the top flight and the performance by our senior men’s team is giving us a challenge to do better,” said Highlanders Royals winger, Sisa Ndebele.
Defender, Mitchel Guri said, “We have played a number of friendlies and teams can underrate us on their own.”
The club is still active in the transfer market, with former Kwekwe United goalkeeper Amy-Anne Emerick keen to impress.
“I came here to pursue a footballing career and I believe I will make it.”
Royals will play Mutare City in their first match on Saturday.
