THE 38th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) meeting of the Council of Bureaux of the Regional Third Party Motor Vehicle Insurance has kicked off in Victoria Falls.
This significant gathering brings together 14 COMESA member states, including Zimbabwe, to review the progress of the COMESA Yellow Card Scheme.
The scheme, also known as the Regional Third Party Motor Vehicle Insurance, is vital in facilitating the smooth movement of freight and people across the region.
During the meeting, attendees will discuss ways to further position the scheme to benefit member states.
The COMESA Yellow Card Scheme has already shown significant growth, with over 208,165 digital Yellow Cards issued in 2020, generating a total annual premium income of US$12.3 million.
The scheme helps to harmonise compensation systems for damages caused by road accidents and improves accident prevention across the region.
The meeting is expected to discuss the future of the COMESA Yellow Card Scheme and its impact on regional trade and development.
