Murambinda Hospital set for refurbishment

Story by Oliver Karuru

The Buhera community is set to benefit from the refurbishment of a theatre facility at Murambinda District Hospital, a move that will ease the burden on patients who used to travel to referral hospitals for medical operations.

The Buhera Development Forum is partnering government for the refurbishment of the theatre facility with US$10 000 having already been injected to kick-start the construction works.

Buhera Development Forum chairperson, Mr John Makumbe said, “The contributions are a shining example of the mantra Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo. Through your generosity we are taking the development of our local health care system into our own hands. It is critical that Murambinda District Hospital has sound health care infrastructure, especially a world class theatre. This modern theatre facility will improve care and address the growing healthcare needs for our community.”

The upgrade is expected to enhance the patient care and provide better working conditions for medical staff.

“We are grateful and so excited as medical practitioners. This is definitely going to make our work easier as we will now be equipped with modern facilities,” said District Medical Officer for Murambinda Hospital, Dr Shelton Kwiri.

Government is impressed with the results of public private partnerships.

The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza noted, “First of all, let me commend the Buhera community through the Buhera Development Forum for stepping in to collaborate with the government in the developing of the health sector. This donation is a result of the collaborative efforts of government and the community and a clear demonstration of the power of working together.”

Private players have been complimenting government efforts in all sectors, a move which has seen the improvement of services.
