The government’s Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) has seen a road network of more than 50 000 kilometres being attended to since 2021.
This was confirmed by ERRP National Coordinator, Engineer Maron Pasipamire in an interview with ZBC News in Harare this Wednesday.
“More than 50 000 kilometres have been attended to. Various interventions have been made attending to gullies and wash-aways. We have also attended to reseal gravelling more than 2 000 structures have been attended to,” said Pasipamire.
More than 30 roads with a road network of 300 km have been attended to in Harare alone as rehabilitation works continue.
Pasipamire went on, “For Harare, we had targeted more than 32 roads, but we then started doing more roads. We have attended to more than 32 roads. Some of the major roads we have done are Masothsa Ndlovu and Paisley. More than 300kms of roads have been attended to in Harare alone.”
Motorists are appreciative of the benefits of the ERRP programme, which has transformed roads such as Seke, Donny Brooke, Boshof Drive, Paisley, Pangula, Kelvin South and Masotsha Ndlovu.
“We are very about the ERRP and we hope the programme continues to other roads,” said a motorist.
The ERRP came into effect in 2021 after the government declared the state of the country’s roads a national disaster.
