story by ZBC Reporter

THE Zimbabwe U21 girls’ hockey team’s participation in the upcoming Junior Women’s World Cup is uncertain due to a lack of sponsorship funding. The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe is considering withdrawing the team from the tournament, scheduled to take place in Santiago, Chile, from December 1 to 13.

Despite the funding challenges, the team has been actively training in Harare and Bulawayo, with players based overseas in the USA, England, and the Netherlands expected to join their teammates in Santiago.

Zimbabwe secured their place in the World Cup following a strong performance in the Africa Cup campaign.
