A consultative breakfast meeting was held in Harare this Thursday, to guide the country in the adoption and implementation of AI which continues to transform human interactions and economic development.

“Government is working with stakeholders in academia, telecommunications and the general citizenry to come up with a policy to drive AI because it has become an imperative in the modern era, hence we have to consult with many stakeholders and seek their input,” the Minister of ICT Courier and Postal Services, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera said.

Powertel Telecommunications acting managing director, Mr Willard Nyangwande highlighted the significance of developing a national AI Policy.

He said, “It is crucial to understand the importance of adopting AI as it is inevitable in the fourth industrial revolution, hence government needs to implement policies that help. The private sector requires a clear policy framework that promotes investment into AI.”
