THE government has encouraged communication professionals to actively promote Zimbabwe’s image through truthful storytelling that reflects the nation’s values and aspirations.
On a night dedicated to recognising excellence, vision, and innovation, the 40 Under 40 Public Relations and Communication Practitioners Zimbabwe Awards celebrated emerging leaders shaping the national narrative in transformative ways.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Acting Permanent Secretary Mr Jonathan Gandari underscored the role of communication in building national identity and international reputation.
“It behoves you to create brands that are authentic, rooted in our history, and narratives that are verifiable and truthful. Think of yourselves as a community of practice,” he said.
Communication Strategist Justin Chinoperekeyi issued a passionate call to action, urging Zimbabwe’s emerging PR professionals to rise above mediocrity and become truth architects, ethical influencers, narrative hackers, and reputation revolutionaries.
“We are witnessing a new era, a dawn where there is a new calibre of PR practitioners who will take this nation to new levels. I charge you to be the authors of a compelling story of Zimbabwe,” he noted.
The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation scooped two prestigious awards, for Public Relations duo, Olinda Mkahlera and Elscent Tairoodza a testament to its leading role in shaping public discourse and delivering authentic communication.
