ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha has paid tribute to ruling party strategists for setting up vibrant party affiliates which played a crucial role in mobilising the electorate during the August 2023 general elections.
Speaking during a retirement ceremony for ZANU PF Director for Commissariat Dr Davison Gomo, Cde Machacha commended the strategic role played by Dr Gomo in moulding several affiliates to becoming a vibrant arm of the ruling party.
“When I came to the commissariat I was told of these affiliates and I realised that Dr Gomo was the architect who was mounding these affiliates, which gave incremental value to the commissariat. I urge all affiliates on their different forms to come up with registers of their members so that we continue to grow the party, like what Dr Gomo was doing,” he said.
After working under four national political commissars, Dr Gomo rallied members to continue defending the ruling party by shunning divisive tendencies.
“I am retiring from my position, but I will remain a ZANU PF cadre for life. My advice is that we must protect our hard-won independence, as many sacrificed for this country’s freedom. We have a duty to defend it, and we must not allow Western-sponsored forces like Nelson Chamisa to take control,” he said.
Several representatives of ZANU PF affiliates, legislators, friends and relatives saluted Dr Gomo for his dedication to duty.
“We want to thank you for the road that you have travelled and as we move forward, we must remain resolute in defending our party ZANU PF for generations to come,” Cde Bornface Mutize said.
“We will continue with his legacy of mobilising diasporans to come back home and join ZANU PF, rebuilding our country,” UK branch political commissar, Cde Gwatidzo said.
Statistics by the ruling party show that over 60 affiliates have registered with ZANU PF.
