ZIMBABWE’s Young Chevrons will begin their preparations for the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup on Friday, as all 16 competing nations embark on a series of warm-up matches ahead of the tournament’s official start next week.
The 16 teams contesting the global showpiece will go through a busy six-day build-up, with warm-up matches running from this Friday until January 14.
The Young Chevrons come into the tournament after competing in a Youth One-Day International tri-series, where they narrowly lost the final to Pakistan by one wicket.
Attention now shifts to their warm-up fixture against the United States at Old Hararians Sports Club, before facing New Zealand three days later.
Elsewhere, England will take on New Zealand, Pakistan face Bangladesh, India meet Scotland, Ireland play West Indies, Japan face Tanzania, Australia play Afghanistan, and South Africa have a date with Sri Lanka.
The World Cup gets underway on January 15, with Zimbabwe opening their campaign against Scotland at Takashinga Cricket Club, while India face the United States at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The tournament features four groups of four teams, followed by a Super Six stage, semi-finals, and the final in Harare on February 6.
