Warriors to play two Group B matches in Morocco

The Zimbabwe senior men’s football team, the Warriors, will play two of their Group B matches at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations schedule.

The Michael Nees-mentored side begin duty on Unity Day with a tricky encounter against African giants Egypt set for the 45 000-seater Stade d’Agadir on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean near the Atlas Mountains.

Four days later, the Warriors shift base for their second match against Angola set for the Stade de Marrakech.

The Warriors will wind-up their Group B campaign with a battle against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at the same venue.

Meanwhile, former Warriors coach Norman Mapeza believes the Warriors should utilise the nine months window period to prepare for the continental showpiece.

“I don’t normally want to comment on something that I am not directly involved with, but being a Zimbabwean I will comment. It’s a tricky group but we have nine months to get the act together. We need more friendly matches with big guns but I am confident we can do well,” he said.

The Warriors are not new to the AFCON campaign, but are yet to progress past the group stages in five attempts.
