The Warriors are gunning for their first victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers when they face Namibia at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg this Thursday.
Zimbabwe have two points from their first two matches of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers after settling for goalless draws against Kenya and Cameroon.
The Warriors have a reason to believe as they take on the Brave Warriors of Namibia who have lost their first two matches in Group J.
Despite Namibia having their backs against the wall, the Warriors are not taking anything for granted.
“The guys are giving their all, and we are all looking for a positive result, and the team is motivated to win the match,” said Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba.
“The group is far from decided. If we win these two matches we control our destiny but not decide the group. However, if Namibia loses, then their hopes of qualifying will be over, so they will come at us with everything, but we are prepared, and we also want to get a very good result,” noted Warriors coach Micheal Nees.
Zimbabwe have no injury worries and look set to play a 4-3-3 formation with returning captain Marvelous Nakamba and his deputy Marshall Munetsi set to form the core of the team alongside the industrious Andy Rinomhota in midfield.
Khama Billiat, Daniel Msendami and Terrence Dzukamanja are expected to unlock the Namibian defence.
The match which kicks off at 3 pm this Thursday, will be played behind closed doors.
