Victoria Falls gains another airline as Air Tanzania expands regional network

Story by Tichaona Kurewa

Air Tanzania is set to launch a new regional service this Thursday, introducing a twice-weekly route connecting Dar es Salaam, Victoria Falls and Cape Town, in a development expected to strengthen regional air connectivity and boost tourism flows through Zimbabwe’s prime resort destination.

According to the airline’s published schedule, flights on the new route will operate every Thursday and Sunday.

The addition makes Air Tanzania the 12th airline to service Victoria Falls, reinforcing the city’s status as a growing aviation hub in the region. Aviation authorities say the move highlights the continuing benefits of Government-led investment in modern airport infrastructure, particularly the upgrading of Victoria Falls International Airport.

Zimbabwe has experienced a marked rise in airline traffic in the Second Republic, with the number of carriers operating in the country increasing from 13 to 21.

The launch of the Air Tanzania service is expected to enhance regional mobility, support tourism growth and provide travellers with more seamless connections between East Africa, Southern Africa and one of the continent’s leading tourism destinations.
