THE National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy is on course, with players in Mutoko investing heavily in infrastructure development.

The sleeping giant in the tourism sector in Mashonaland East Province has awaken with three new players Gohori Resort, Ruchera Resort and Suswe Resort having invested in conference facilities and accommodation in line with the National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy.

A high-powered government delegation was in Mutoko this Tuesday to appreciate the developments.

“As tourism players we are happy with the support we are getting from the government which has seen us investing in such projects,” tourism player, Mr Benard Kasekete said.

“We want Mutoko to have all the facilities which will make us a destination of choice not only in Mashonaland East, but the whole country. Our combined accommodation is now close to 100 which is a milestone for us as a district,” another player, Mr Prosper Bvunzawabaya added.

The Government, on the other hand, is excited about the tourism sector investments at district level.

“This shows that the Second Republic is serious about development as we move towards an upper middle income society by 2030,” said the Permanent Secretary for Mashonaland East Province, Mr Tavabarira Kutamahufa.

“As Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, we get very excited when we have new players coming board to beef up already existing facilities,” ZTA Mashonaland East manager, Mr Kudzai Majuru stated.

With the infrastructure, Mutoko now has up to 1 000 conference facilities and 100 room occupancy capacity – the biggest figures in Mashonaland East Province.
