FLAMBOYANT Scottland have shot to the top of the log after edging Manica Diamonds one-nil in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Rufaro Stadium, this Friday.

Captain Walter Musona’s decisive goal earned Mabviravira crucial three points, catapulting them to the top of the league standings with 56 points, narrowly edging out reigning champions Simba Bhora, who are on continental duty.

The Mabvuku-based side dominated from start to finish but failed to add to Musona’s third-minute goal.

For Manica Diamonds, however, the 1-nil loss dealt a significant blow to their survival hopes, keeping them on 33 points and leaving their fate hanging in the balance.

As the league enters its final stretch, the battle for survival is intensifying.
Other relegation-threatened teams, including Green Fuel and Chicken Inn, will face off in a crucial encounter in Chisumbanje.

Another battle for survival is between Dynamos and CAPS United in a Harare Derby at Rufaro Stadium.

Bikita Minerals face off former champions FC Platinum, relegation-haunted Yadah host TelOne, while the match between Ngezi Platinum and Herentals is set for Baobab.

Highlanders will host ZPC Kariba at Barbourfields on Sunday, while relegated Kwekwe United will look to spoil their opponents’ party against fellow newcomers MWOS at Ascot Stadium.

The stage is set for an exhilarating conclusion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, with several teams vying for survival and the championship race still to be decided.
