PROFESSOR Arthur Peter Mutharika has been inaugurated as the seventh President of the Republic of Malawi at a colourful ceremony held at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Thousands of jubilant Malawians packed the stadium, breaking into cheers, songs, and dances as President Mutharika took his oath of office, in a moment that reflected both pride and renewed hope for the nation.
The inauguration was attended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and the Prime Ministers of Eswatini and Tanzania, among other regional and international dignitaries.
In his inaugural address, President Mutharika pledged to fight corruption, promising that those found guilty of graft will be held accountable.
He also promised to ensure that no Malawian will go without shelter or food and urged citizens to embrace a new way of thinking focused on integrity, productivity, and national unity.
Professor Mutharika outlined a vision of transformation anchored on accountability and self-reliance.
The inauguration marks Professor Mutharika’s return to leadership and sets the tone for his administration’s commitment to good governance, economic reform, and inclusive development.
