PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has left Harare for Doha, Qatar, where he will attend the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2), organised by the United Nations.
The summit aims to renew global commitment to social development, ensuring that no one is left behind, while accelerating progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Discussions at the summit will focus on addressing persistent challenges such as poverty eradication, employment creation, and social inclusion.
The gathering will also seek to strengthen global partnerships and promote inclusive policies that foster equitable opportunities for all.
The high-level event is expected to bring together more than 8 000 participants, including world leaders, international organisations, civil society representatives, academics, and private sector players, to redefine strategies for social progress and promote sustainable development.
President Mnangagwa was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Dr Kembo Mohadi, Defence Minister Honourable Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, senior government officials, and Service Chiefs.
