THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have confirmed that 13 people lost their lives in two separate road traffic accidents that occurred on Wednesday on the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway and the Harare-Mutare Road.

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the first accident occurred along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway, involving a pirate taxi and a haulage truck.

“The ZRP reports the death of ten people in a fatal road traffic accident at the 185 km peg along Harare-Nyamapanda Road near Suswe Area on December 17 2025 between 1130 am and 12 noon. A Honda Fit with 10 occupants which was travelling from Mutoko to Kotwa had a head-on collision with a Haulage truck travelling to Harare,” Commissioner Nyathi said.

Police said all the deceased were occupants of the Honda Fit vehicle.

“The truck had four occupants. It is alleged that the Honda Fit encroached onto the lane of oncoming traffic resulting in the collision. All the 10 occupants of the Honda Fit died,” Commissioner Nyathi added.

n a separate incident on the Harare–Mutare Road in Ruwa on the same day, a commuter omnibus reportedly burst a tyre, overturned and landed on its left side.

The accident claimed the lives of three people, while 15 others sustained injuries.
