LUPANE State University in Matabeleland North Province is constructing an innovation hub which will drive the national industrialisation agenda.
It is brick upon brick as the multi-storey structure begins to take shape.
For an institution that was set up to contribute to national development by providing viable solutions within academia, Lupane State University continues to walk the journey of knowledge that is relevant to Zimbabwe’s needs.
It is a teaching complex that is going to focus on issues of innovation, and we will have our innovators housed in this building, working on innovations that are going to spur and contribute to industrialisation,” Lupane State University Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr Thulani Dube said.
The Second Republic is pleased with how the institution has heeded the call to contribute to infrastructure development.
“Lupane State University is taking the right strides in implementing their infrastructural development to support innovation within the institution. This area has been almost stagnant for a long time but now despite the tough conditions that they have, they managed to think outside the box in terms of how to combat the Kalahari sands and do something that is bigger and even better. They are fulfilling the President’s mantra that brick upon brick we are going to actually build this country and this is an example of infrastructure development in Lupane,” Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Reverend Paul Damasane said.
Upon completion, the hub, which will be a habitat for think-tanks, will provide much needed solutions on how the university contributes to national development.
The institution is already playing a leading role in research, agriculture and wildlife conservation programmes.
