HIGHLANDERS FC have suspended Chief Executive Officer Denzil Mkandla over alleged financial irregularities at the club.
The decision was taken during a crisis meeting held by the club’s leadership on Tuesday night.
A source within the executive, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Mkandla who was appointed in August last year is accused of presiding over financial irregularities linked to the club’s pre-season camp in Botswana, where service providers allegedly issued an inflated bill.
Mkandla is expected to submit a report in response to the allegations.
The developments come amid growing divisions within the Highlanders executive, with some insiders suggesting the CEO could be a scapegoat for deeper administrative challenges at the club.
Tensions have also been evident within the Bosso camp, with head coach Benjani Mwaruwari recently criticising the club’s administration over alleged insubordination and lack of support.
Highlanders endured a difficult 2025 season, finishing just two points above the relegation zone as part of a rebuilding exercise.
The struggles appear to have carried into the current campaign, with the club yet to secure a win, drawing all six of their matches so far.
