DEFENDING Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League champions, Herentals Queens, have taken control of the title race after moving level on points with Chapungu Queens following a dominant four-nil win over Sheasham Gweru Queens.

Herentals Queens are firmly in charge of the Women’s Premier Soccer after moving level with Chapungu.

Herentals now sit on 62 points, equal with Chapungu, but with a crucial advantage of three games in hand.

With table-topping ambitions, Herentals Queens put on a dominant show against their Gweru-based opponents, finding the back of the net on four occasions.

Herentals acted like they knew the proceedings at Mkushi Academy Grounds, where table toppers Chapungu Queens were forced to drop valuable points after being held to a one-all draw by Black Mambas Queens, a result that could prove costly in the long run.

Meanwhile, fellow title chasers Black Rhinos Queens and Correctional Queens kept themselves in the race, each registering narrow 1-0 wins over Harare City Queens and Platinum Royals, respectively, to cut the lead of the log leaders.

In other matches, Conduit Soccer Academy beat Kwekwe Queens by two goals to one, to ease off relegation pressure, while Cranborne Royals underlined their survival hopes with a one-nil win over Mpopoma Sports Academy.

With just four match days left, the title race is heating up, and Herentals’ experience could make all the difference.
