Eltah Nengomasha resumes duties as SRC Director-General after suspension lift

Story by Anashe Murombedzi, Sports Reporter

SPORTS and Recreation Commission (SRC) Director-General Eltah Nengomasha has been cleared of all charges and is set to resume her duties immediately.

This comes after a disciplinary hearing before an Independent Tribunal acquitted her of any wrongdoing in its 21-page determination on the 11th of this month.

In a statement, SRC Chairperson Gerald Mlotshwa announced Nengomasha’s return, highlighting the tribunal’s findings and the board’s support for her resumption of duties.

Nengomasha’s suspension, effected in October last year, had sent shockwaves in the sporting fraternity, particularly given her successful stint as Chef de Mission for Team Zimbabwe at the 2023 African Games in Accra, Ghana.

During her suspension, Sebastian Garikai took over as acting director-general, a role he has held before.

Following her acquittal, Nengomasha is expected to focus on restructuring the SRC’s human resources, armed with the full confidence and support of the board.
